Holdem AceHigh — Where the Cards Actually Matter

Ace-high means your strongest card is an ace but you have no pair or better combination. It can still win a pot if all opponents hold weaker unpaired hands at showdown.

Blinds are forced bets placed by the two players left of the dealer before cards are dealt. Small blind is half the big blind amount, setting the minimum pot before any voluntary action.

Community cards are the shared face-up cards dealt to the centre of the table. In Hold'em there are five of them — the flop (three), the turn, and the river — used by all players.

Checking means you pass the action to the next player without betting, only allowed when no bet has been placed in that round. It keeps you in the hand without committing chips.

A sit-and-go starts as soon as a fixed number of seats fill up, with no scheduled start time. It suits shorter sessions because the tournament ends once one player holds all the chips.
